Job Title: Organic Dye Chemist
Position Type: Full-time
Location: Fremont, CA USA
Job Description:
As a hands-on creative scientist, you will join our research and development group to develop next-generation products using a proprietary Electronic Paper display technology. A whole new class of applications is being developed around these displays that are just entering the market such as electronic readers, electronic retail signage, credit card displays, reconfigurable keypads, and ultra long battery life mobile devices. You will work on the leading edge of this new application space together with a group of scientists and engineers from different scientific disciplines.
Equipped with an extensive knowledge in various types of chromophores, your job will be to source and screen commercially available dyes that are suitable to be used as colorants in electrophoretic dispersions, separate the compositions of commercially available dye and purify it to electronic grade, design chemical analytical methods to characterize physical/chemical/electrical properties of dyes. You will work closely with dispersion formulation chemist to evaluate dyes for their electrophoretic display (EPD) performances, and understand the relationships between the chemical/physical/electrical properties of dyes and pigments and its effects on EPD performances. Your job also requires tailoring the molecular structures of dyes in order to be compatible with the EPD system, effectively synthesize/purify them for improved EPD performances and according to product process requirements.

- Excellent verbal and written communication in English
- High energy and a self-starter attitude. Candidate must be goal-oriented, flexible, creative and able to balance multiple tasks
- Team player, have general breadth and potential for interdisciplinary work
- Ability to thrive in a deadline driven environment without compromising personal integrity
Qualifications
- MS or Ph.D. in chemistry, preferably organic chemistry
- 3-5 years hand-on working experiences of dye chemistry
- Hands-on working experiences of new molecule design, organic synthesis, and chemical analysis
- Expert of preparative column chromatography
- Industrial experiences in electrical industry or display industry is a plus

Job Title: Colloidal Chemist/Egnineer
Position Type: Full-time
Location: Fremont, CA USA
Job Description:
As a colloidal chemist, you will join our research and development group to develop next-generation products using a proprietary Electronic Paper display technology.
Your job will be to develop stable inorganic pigments particle dispersions for electrophoretic displays. You will develop new processes for dispersing in non-aqueous non-polar media using minimum free surfactants. You will be able to modify particle surface, control particle size and particle aggregation according to the needs of dispersion stability and particle charging using your working knowledge of surfactant, protective colloid, and charging mechanisms. You are also required to design analytical method for particles/dispersions and perform extensive characterizations on particle surface functionality, particle chemical composition, particle size distribution, dispersion stability, particle morphology, particle surface charge, dispersion electrical properties, and their EPD performances. You will be able to correlate the dispersion properties to the final EPD performances, and seek out approaches for EPD performance improvements based on particle design, dispersion chemistry and processing. You will also work with process engineers to scale up all the processes for dispersion preparation.
